GLOBAL OUTREACH
The Riverside Porto Outreach Mission is dedicated to serving and uplifting communities, both locally and globally, through compassionate action rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Riverside Porto proudly supports one of our missionaries, Diansambo Masembo, also known as Sambo, who is currently on a two-year Intercultural Studies program for mission training at Cornerstone Bible College in the Netherlands. His mission is centered on engaging in evangelism and discipleship among youth and young adults, while also fostering academic teaching, research, and sustainable solutions for local community development. Sambo's vision is to lead young individuals towards authentic connections with God and to free them from spiritual, material, identity, civic, and aspirational poverty.
Sambo's Work
Bosnia-Herzegovina: 3-week mission trip to the city of Mostar. Along with the local church planting team and college colleagues, Sambo joined the youth work by teaching English classes and other activities for outreach and discipleship of the youth. He also had the chance to join the farming work from one of the churches that helps people in the local community.
Spain: Sambo spent 4 weeks as a summer volunteer at the El Buen Samaritano (EBS) centre in the region of Andalucía managing the irrigation systems of their organic farm that runs on solar energy. EBS is a project under the Christian evangelical church of Pozoblanco in partnership with the European Christian Mission (ECM).
Guinea-Bissau: Most recently Sambo had a 6-week mission trip to Guinea-Bissau, where he visited the work done by the mission organization WEC in the areas of Ingoré and Farim, both in the North of the country. He participated in the regular routines of church life and discipleship ministries with the young people of Guinea-Bissau and occupied himself with teaching English, Maths and Physics at different school levels.
About Diansambo Masembo
Sambo was born and raised in Angola, and at the age 18 moved to the UK to study Mechatronics at the University of Glasgow. After graduation, he moved to Portugal to proceed with a master's degree in energy engineering and management (renewable energy).
Sambo became a follower of Jesus Christ in 2014, and ever since has had the passion to share the love and joy of living with Christ. As he finished his master’s studies, Sambo realized that God wanted him to work in missions. Therefore, in September 2022, he started the two-year Intercultural Studies program for mission training at the Cornerstone Bible College, Netherlands. The training program includes Biblical Studies, Missiology and Cross-cultural Communication modules, as well as mission trip internships.
After the mission training program Sambo intends to return to Guinea-Bissau to work alongside the organization WEC International in sharing the Gospel and planting churches amongst the unreached and unevangelized people of Guinea-Bissau, and doing discipleship with local believers, so that they may grow mature in their Christian faith.
